세계로 나아가기를 기원하는
진도 지역의 대표적 무속의례입니다.
‘씻김’이란
한을 씻어준다는 뜻에서 유래하였으며, 죽은
자뿐 아니라 산 자의 평안을 비는 불교적 의미도담고
있습니다. 진도씻김굿은
음악과 춤이 어우러진 예술성과 깊은 영성을 지닌 의식으로, 전통예술의
독창성을 잘 보여줍니다.

Jindo
Ssitgimgut is a traditional shamanic ritual performed to help the soul of the
deceased let go of lingering
regrets and peacefully transition to the next world.
The
term “ssitgim” means “to wash away grievances.” While primarily conducted for
the dead, the ritual
also conveys Buddhist wishes for the well-being of the living. With
its expressive blend of music and dance, Jindo Ssitgimgut showcases both
spiritual depth and outstanding
artistry.
